LHSC has reported a significant advancement in aortic care, becoming the first centre in the world to successfully perform two major aortic reconstruction procedures in a single operation using new medical devices. Dr. Michael Chu, Cardiac Surgeon at LHSC, and his team carried out a highly sophisticated surgery combining a protected Ross procedure and a hybrid arch frozen elephant trunk procedure.
